SA Family Day postponed due to weather conditions

Comments Off on SA Family Day postponed due to weather conditions

The SA Family Day has been postponed due to the current and predicted bad weather conditions. The outdoor area of Dubai Sport City will not be able to host the event in this weather and weather predictions for the weekend indicate that it will only worsen.

SABCO has therefore made the decision to postpone the event until further notice.

The new date will be published as soon as we have made a decision on it.

Thank you for all your support.

Charl Chaka

Years in the UAE

Current job title and company

Managing Partner, Infusion Magazine

How long have you been running this company?

7 years

About me

Charl is one of the original pioneers of the Dubai music industry and is currently the Head Honcho of Dubai’s leading Nightlife & Music platform, Infusion Magazine. He is the brainchild behind the award winning ‘Full Moon’ Parties. In 2006 he won the Technics International DJ Challenge, been voted #4 in the DJ Mag Middle East Poll of 2010, nominated for Best Local DJ by Ahlan Magazine in 2011 & Winner of ‘Best Local DJ’ in the TimeOut Nightlife Awards of 2012.

About your Company

The INFUSION GROUP is a media, events and entertainment group that is based in Dubai. Since its inception in 2005, Infusion has quickly set the standard in producing creative events in the UAE and for successfully exceeding clients’ expectations.
The Infusion Group is a culmination of various media and entertainment divisions and include: Infusion Magazine (Marketing & PR), Infusion Events (Event Management), Infusion Entertainment (Performers & Talent Consultant), Infusion Records, Infusion Creative (Graphic Design & Copy Writing) & Infusion TV (Video Production)
Our database of loyal followers is continually growing and, in turn, we’re continually striving to raise the entertainment scene in the region. Infusion has become the guide for what’s on in the region and we remain to be the voice for our party-goers.

Why did you move to the UAE?

I was offered a DJ residency at Lotus One

Why did you decide to start this business in the UAE?

When I moved here the nightlife industry just started really and I saw a gap in the market for a magazine covering nightlife

What has been your experience of doing business in the UAE?

Dubai is land of opportunity, however there is also a lot of “redtape” which can be frustrating. Overall I’m very happy to be part of the history of nightlife of Dubai

How are you personally improving business ties between the UAE and South Africa?

Currently I’m doing a weekly event called ‘House of Afrika’ The concept of the night is to bring DJs & Artist from South Africa to perform in Dubai. So far we’ve had the likes of Goldfish, Mi Casa, Liquid Deep, Black Coffee etc

Any personal achievements you’re proud of in this your industry over the past few years?

In 2010 we won the “Best Overall Event” for our Full Moon Parties at Nasimi. Currently I think our greatest achievement is to still be relevant in this ever changing market

Any words of advice for eager South African entrepreneurs in this market?

If you have a good concept/product, go for it, Dubai is the land of opportunity!
